Scheduling: You can schedule a consultation at your convenience by using our online scheduling option. If you are not sure what service to choose or would like to know about evening, weekend, or holiday availability, please email johanna@stcharleslactation.com and we will be happy to assist you in scheduling.
Payment: If not using insurance, payment is due at time of service. Pay with cash, credit, debit, or HSA/FSA. Gifts cards are available - let your family and friends know when you are registering for baby gifts!
Insurance coverage: You may qualify for no-cost or low-cost lactation care through your insurance. If we are not in-network with your plan, a superbill will be provided to you so you can submit it to your insurance company for partial reimbursement.
Length of consultations: The length of consultations varies depending on the needs of the family, but the approximate times listed during the scheduling process may help you plan your day around our visit.
Support people: You are very welcome and even encouraged to include your trusted support people; this may be your spouse/partner, sibling, parent, friend or whoever else will be helping support you and baby during the postpartum period.
Prior to your visit: While no special preparation is necessary before our visit, there are some steps that you can take to help our visit flow smoothly and to maximize our time together.
Complete the online intake form as completely as possible so the lactation consultant can review and prepare before the visit.
Gather any previous notes or records relevant to our visit, especially any and all weights for your baby and the dates they were recorded.
If meeting in your home, please do not do any special cleaning. All we'll need is a place to sit and talk and a place to lay baby for an exam. We love meeting your pets but if your cat or dog will be overly excited, distressed, or distracting during our visit, use your own best judgement about whether they should be kept in a separate space.
Jot down any questions you think of in the days leading up to our visit.
Have available: your pump(s) and all parts/accessories, and donor breast milk or formula if you are using it.
